Hi-Score

My project was to pick a small business with a bad or out of date logo and redesign it. A business that I frequent in Woodbury called Hi-Score is a video game and card shop that used a logo that I thought I could improve. I wanted to design something that was modern and clean but at the same time it would give you the impression of retro video games. I took inspiration from the original Nintendo consoles and came up with a functional icon and word mark that fits the business' mission.

Sketches

I started with some on paper sketches, trying to focus on the classic gaming feel and design.

I then took my favorites and brought them into Illustrator and made some rough black and white sketches. I tried to make four different sets that focused on different aspects, and chose one of each four as the best.

This was the final logo with out color. I chose this logo because of its representation of old school gaming. The word mark was to represent an arcade high score screen and the image logo is to represent the classic at home gaming.

I chose the color scheme that closest related to old school gaming with the colors of the 80s' because it matched what the company sold the most of and best represented them
